What is Gado-Gado?

Gado-Gado is a traditional Indonesian salad made from steamed vegetables, tofu, tempeh, and hard-boiled eggs – topped with a creamy, spicy peanut sauce. The dish is naturally vegan (without egg) and extremely nutritious.

Ingredients for 4 people

For the salad:

  • 200 g green beans
  • 200 g spinach or water spinach
  • 2 potatoes, cooked and sliced
  • 200 g tofu, diced and fried
  • 100 g tempeh, diced and fried
  • 4 eggs, hard-boiled
  • Cucumber slices
  • Kerupuk for serving

For the peanut sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons Kecap Manis
  • 1 teaspoon Sambal
  • Juice of one lime
  • 100 ml coconut milk or water
