It had a very bad odours. It was right away cleaned m washed and let it dry for couple of days now. . I am not sure if I could put rice in there as it may have the unpleasant smell. The made is not perfect - to close with the cap is not that smooth - needs time - it has to be turned here and there to find the right position to close it.
